Is moving to Shapado a good idea?
Update 2010-09-18: sample data has now been imported at iRosetta, The Second Generation; the iRosetta state as of 2010-08-28.
To explore another option I looked at the list of Stack Overflow clones, found Shapado and have created iRosetta, The Second Generation. This will allow us to have full control over the scope of the site, including what kind of questions will be accepted.
To try it out I have added a few questions.
Some initial observations:
Some time in the future it may cost US$9 per month with the expected traffic. It is free for the time being.
The look and feel is very similar to iRosetta/Stack Exchange, although there is some visual clutter. Perhaps it can changed by custom CSS.
Changing the user profile is not intuitive (based on one usability data point). It is not done by <user name>/my page, but by <user name>/settings.
User names are (unfortunately) lower cased. If it is defined by CSS then it may be possible to change it.
It does not seem to support Markdown. But HTML is supported! At least for hyperlinks. "Does Shapado use the WMD Markdown Editor? " seems to suggest there is a WISIWYG editor as well.
For my taste there is too much clutter for comments to questions and answers.
Comments can be edited (an improvement over Stack Exchange 1.0).
I could not get it to work with anonymous particitation (post questions without being logged in). This not a serious limitation, and may prevent spam.

Can the data from the current iRosetta be ported to the Shapado site? It seems like a reasonable option.
@Donald Remero: it could be done in a cumbersome way – manually. Today I have downloaded all 405 questions and answers. This content can be parsed and formatted by means of a Perl script. I will try to find out if Shapado has an import function that will make it easier to port the iRosetta content (but I have a job interview on Friday that I need to prepare for so I can not promise anything before Monday). I have opned a question to this effect: http://shapado.com/questions/importing-migrating-existing-sites-to-shapado
@Donald Remero: yes, it can be ported: http://shapado.com/questions/4b7d885719ce954a7a000001/answers/4b7d893919ce9546f6000004
